Do you want to help create a workplace that’s more fair and equitable?

The Ally Skills Workshop provides simple, everyday ways for allies to support people who are targets of marginalisation, including women, people of colour, LGBTQIA folks, caregivers, people with disabilities, people of different ages and body sizes, and others. In this workshop, we’ll learn about how to identify marginalisation and consider steps we can take to stop it in our workplaces and communities.

The bulk of this three-hour workshop is spent in small groups discussing real-world scenarios and ways to respond. This is a free and public workshop as part of Techweek'18.

Erica Austin, your primary facilitator, is the Founder of E.A.Curation and works with non-profit organisations, government agencies, education providers and companies offering creative solutions to help curate meaningful experiences. Erica is an architectural graduate, social entrepreneur, community weaver and photographer. She is passionate about creating a more inclusive Christchurch and how we can celebrate diversity within our workplaces.

This workshop is supported by Lauren Peate, the founder of Ally Skills NZ. Lauren has worked with diverse, high-performance teams around the world: She has been a management consultant for Bain & Co. in San Francisco advising Fortune 500 companies, Interim COO of an eCommerce startup in Jordan, business mentor for companies across the Middle East and Southeast Asia, and a Fulbright Scholar in Morocco. Lauren received her bachelor’s degree in Economics from Stanford University.

Erica and Lauren were both trained to lead the Ally Skills Workshop by Valerie Aurora, the founder of Frameshift Consulting and one of the creators of the workshop.

We are also running a meetup event on Friday 25th May. Register HERE.
