Introduction to Digital Art

Wed 23 May 5:30 — 7pm

AfterMath Gallery, 165 Gloucester Street, Christchurch Central, Christchurch, New Zealand

Learn about digital art, what it is, and how to get started making your own. Suitable for all ages
This event has already happened!

We'll be exploring the different types of digital art, how it's made and what it means.

Looking at how artists have used the internet and other technologies to communicate their stories, we'll explore what it means to make art in the modern world and look at the ways in which it can be important to society.

Some of the types of art we will look at are:

'Generative Art' made by computers with help from people;

'Internet Art' that only comes alive through engagement from vast numbers of online people;

'Digital Illustration' that utilises new technologies to engage in traditional story telling;

and 'Virtual Reality and Games' that take interactivity and immersiveness to the next level!

This event is suitable to all ages, but make sure to bring your thinking helmet... it's going to be quite a ride!

Be sure to come down and see all the interesting artworks in display in the gallery. We will even have the Virtual Reality systems setup for people to play with after the talk.
