Radical Technologies

24 May 2018 - 24 May 2018 — 5:30PM - 7:00PM

AfterMath Gallery, 165 Gloucester Street, Christchurch Central, Christchurch, New Zealand

All technology is political - Come, listen and discuss the changing nature of our communities in the digital era. Pizza included - Free!
This event has already happened!

Come and hear the latest ideas about political technologies and what they may mean for us in the future. We'll be discussing a range of ideas from the blockchain and intellectual property to trans-humanism and the politics of alienation.

Drawing from a range of amazing resources, we'll also be delving into the history and philosophy of technology and looking at how our modern conception of reality has developed and asking deep questions about where we might end up.

What impacts will new technologies have on global politics and what are the risks of runaway artificial intelligence. Will we fuse with machines and become gods or are we simply a substrate for a new type of being to emerge.

All these topics and more will be discussed, so if you have questions or ideas, this is a great place to bring them. We will have a short presentation followed by opportunities to discuss and network.

We'll be providing pizza on the night, so come by straight after work and check out some of the other interesting avenues that AfterMath Gallery is exploring.
