Bring your lunch and explore the meaning, implications and results of adopting a circular economy mindset with Heikki Ruohomaa, a leading global expert on Circular Economy and Smart Cities.

Mr Ruohomaa, Research Manager at Smart Service Research Centre at the Häme University of Applied Sciences in Southern Finland, will deliver two talks during the Dunedin part is his New Zealand tour.  Mr Ruohomaa is widely known for leading business-led rural revitalisation using circular economy in Finland. He is in NZ working on a waste to energy initiative for the Waikato Institute of Technology.

Mr Ruomohaa's knowledge and expertise with revitalising communities and regions which had previously relied on unsustainable industries will showcase how Dunedin can work towards  a regional economy that is aligned with principles of sustainability, collaboration and resourcefulness. 

This is the first of two talks,  with the second one commencing at 5.30pm at Toitu Otago Early Settlers Museum focussing upon Dunedin's ability to become a SmartCity.  A Smart City is an urban ecosystem that places emphasis on the use of digital technology, shared knowledge and cohesive processes to underpin citizen benefits in vectors such as mobility, public safety, health and productivity.
