Tue 22 May 11:30am — 12:30pm

Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment, 15 Stout Street, Wellington, New Zealand

With all the technological change and the new Gig Economy - have you ever wondered about the future of work? This is your opportunity to get a taste of what's to come?
This event has already happened!

Are you ready for the new digital economy and its workforce?

Technology, globalisation, and the massive drive for digital transformation is having a tremendous impact on our workforce and things are only going to change at a more rapid pace. Termed the ‘fourth industrial revolution’, the digital revolution consists of developments in information technologies combined with robotisation, artificial intelligence, automation of tasks, the internet of things, and a host of other advances.

Every year, more and more people are working remotely, on a flexible part-time basis, and for more than one employer. Increasingly, this is without national boundaries, particularly in highly skilled roles and innovative sectors. At the same time, many ‘traditional’ jobs and organisations are likely to become increasingly globalised and fluid as people move from one country to another.

MBIE is bringing Dr Fiona McKenzie who is a Co-Founder and the Director of Strategy for the Australian Futures Project. The Project stimulates and supports leaders, experts, and the community to identify, test, and build initiatives to improve how countries create their future. A human geographer - Fiona is an internationally renowned specialist whose work has had her speak to audiences on every continent except Antarctica (where she hopes to one day get an audience with the penguins there too).

Come along and learn what the future of work might look like for yourself and / or your organisation.
