NZBIO believes both national and international collaboration is key for New Zealand success, and this Symposium, has brought together Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED), University of Auckland, Waikato University, University of Otago, Natural Health Products and Callaghan Innovation and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise is organizing this one-day symposium. 

Bioactives play a significant role in enhancing therapeutics for many animal, human diseases and the environment, therefore one important pathway to further enhance this area is to apply sound interdisciplinary knowledge and methodologies in technology, engineering and mathematics.  The event has been designed to interest researchers, small to medium enterprises, service providers and large corporates to discuss how the natural products industry can scale to play a significant role in Auckland and NZ economy.  The audience will come from a cross section of food, agriculture, environmental and human health.

Speakers

Brian is CEO of BLIS Technologies a Dunedin based developer of probiotics. He has worked in senior management, marketing, and business development positions both locally and internationally within the pharmaceutical and functional food industries. Organisations he has worked for include Roche, AstraZeneca, MSD and Fonterra. Brian holds a B.Com. (Marketing) and B.PhEd from University of Otago.
Wide experience in working across Chemical, Material and Food companies. Ability to understand the dynamics of Industry convergence seen in today’s business world. Specific sectors of focus are:
