Hosted by Rod Oram, this very special event begins with one of New Zealand's most celebrated upstarters, Peter Beck of Rocket Lab, who will tell his story of starting a company that's democratising space from the bottom of the world. Find out about his greatest challenges and his secrets to success as he discusses what it means to take a big idea to the world and make it a reality.

Next, hear from two companies from opposite sides of the innovation ecosystem who collaborated to build something entirely new and world-changing - Revolution Fibres, world-leading experts in the field of electrospinning Nanofibre, and Dotterel, the company whose drone noise reduction and audio enablement technology has cross-sector applications from cinematography to surveillance.

CEO of Callaghan Innovation, Vic Crone, will then take to the stage with a panel of promising start-ups - David Woods from Precision Seafood Harvesting, Timothy Allan of Ubco and Emma Parsons of Agrigate

This is a showcase event not to be missed, both for visitors from overseas and tech-keen New Zealanders. If you'd like to hear a story about what makes New Zealand innovation unique, this is the ideal place to start your Techweek adventure.

This event is the opening event of the Good for the World Open Days — a two-day showcase of New Zealand's innovation ecosystem - you can purchase tickets to this event separately or grab yourself a ticket to the whole two-day showcase, which includes a selection of 12 sessions across town on varying topics from AI to blockchain, from design-thinking to the future of work.
