Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality, Past, Present and Future

Fri 25 May 1 — 2pm

AR/VR Garage, 28 Shaddock St, Eden Terrace, Auckland

Did you know Augmented & Virtual Reality technology has been around since the 90s? It's past & future story time with an AR/VR Guru
This event has already happened!

Augmented and Virtual Reality represent a whole new way for you to experience real and make-believe worlds.  Take a journey to a far away land without leaving your seat.   See the world around you with a fresh set of eyes, augmented with a magical overlay.  Meet people from all over the world and work together on a new design.   These capabilities are here to stay, and will increasingly impact our lives as part of the new wave of pervasive technologies. However, where we are going is informed from where we have been.  This talk takes both an historical and futuristic view of AR and VR, with special attention to how we make this a beneficial experience for people.

Info about the Speaker:  Dr. Roy Davies is one of the early pioneers in Virtual Reality research, specialising in the usability and application of these technologies to real world situations such as Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Participatory Design.  He has moved from the university environment to leading innovation at Imersia, a key business in the AR/VR space in New Zealand, currently expanding out into the world.

This event is repeated twice (Monday 21, and Friday 25) so you have two chances to attend!
