Maui o Te Huapae! Maui Beyond the Horizon!
Let us be like Maui Potiki - Maui the Explorer and join together at Otiria Marae to explore, create and innovate at our techno - engineering hackathon!
We will host a hackathon where in teams participants will complete challenges in:
1. Building a test catapult
2. Exploration of hydraulics
3. Geometric activity (based on sheet metal design)
4. Floating a model waka hourua
5. Exploring the design process
6. Bridge buildingTower design with tooth picks
Te Matarau Education Trust in partnership with Ngati Hine Health Trust welcomes young and old to join us at Maui o Te Huapae!
Speakers
Huhana is General Manager of Te Matarau Education Trust who leads Maori Pasifika Trades Training in Northland. As event organisers Te Matarau seek to engage whanau and community into the Maui o Te Huapae Event to promote trades and engineering career pathways!
Tukaha is a lead advisor at Ngati Hine Health Trust and a trained engineer. He works in Marae and community and brings a wealth of traditional knowledge applying it into a techno engineering context
